Her Majesty's Christmas Speech 2008

-- Courtesy SkyNews, the Text of Her Majesty's Speech:

"Christmas is a time for celebration, but this year it is a more sombre occasion for many. Some of those things which could once have been taken for granted suddenly seem less certain and, naturally, give rise to feelings of insecurity.

"People are touched by events which have their roots far across the world. Whether it is the global economy or violence in a distant land, the effects can be keenly felt at home.

"Once again, many of our service men and women are serving on operations in common cause to bring peace and security to troubled places.

"In this 90th year since the end of the First World War, the last survivors recently commemorated the service and enormous sacrifice of their own generation.

"Their successors in theatres such as Iraq and Afghanistan are still to be found in harm's way in the service of others. For their loved ones, the worry will never cease until they are safely home.

"In such times as these we can all learn something from the past. We might begin to see things in a new perspective. And certainly, we begin to ask ourselves where it is that we can find lasting happiness.

"Over the years those who have seemed to me to be the most happy, contented and fulfilled have always been the people who have lived the most outgoing and unselfish lives; the kind of people who are generous with their talents or their time.

"There are those who use their prosperity or good fortune for the benefit of others whether they number among the great philanthropists or are people who, with whatever they have, simply have a desire to help those less fortunate than themselves.

"What they offer comes in the form of what can easily be recognised as service to the nation or service to the wider community.

"As often as not however, their unselfishness is a simply taken-for-granted part of the life of their family or neighbourhood.

"They tend to have some sense that life itself is full of blessings, and is a precious gift for which we should be thankful.

"When life seems hard the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future.

"I think we have a huge amount to learn from individuals such as these. And what I believe many of us share with them is a source of strength and peace of mind in our families and friends.

"Indeed, Prince Philip and I can reflect on the blessing, comfort and support we have gained from our own family in this special year for our son, the Prince of Wales. Sixty years ago, he was baptised here in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace. As parents and grandparents, we feel great pride in seeing our family make their own unique contributions to society.

"Through his charities, the Prince of Wales has worked to support young people and other causes for the benefit of the wider community.

"At Christmas, we feel very fortunate to have our family around us. But for many of you, this Christmas will mean separation from loved ones and perhaps reflection on the memories of those no longer with us.

"I hope that, like me, you will be comforted by the example of Jesus of Nazareth who, often in circumstances of great adversity, managed to live an outgoing, unselfish and sacrificial life. Countless millions of people around the world continue to celebrate his birthday at Christmas, inspired by his teaching.

"He makes it clear that genuine human happiness and satisfaction lie more in giving than receiving; more in serving than in being served.

"We can surely be grateful that, two thousand years after the birth of Jesus, so many of us are able to draw inspiration from his life and message, and to find in him a source of strength and courage.

"I hope that the Christmas message will encourage and sustain you too, now and in the coming year.

"I wish you all a very happy Christmas."

Governor-General's Christmas Speech 2008

May I begin with a quotation?
This night bestowed peace on the whole world;
so, let no one threaten;
This is the night of the Most Gentle One -
let no one be cruel;
This is the night of the Most Humble One -
let no one be proud.
Now is the day of joy -
let us not revenge;
Now is the day of good will -
let us not be mean-spirited.
In this day of peace
let us not be conquered by anger.
Today the Bountiful impoverished Himself for our sake;
so, rich one, invite the poor to your table.
Today we received a gift for which we did not ask;
so let us give alms to those who implore us and beg.
This present day cast open the heavenly door to our prayers;
let us open our door to those who ask our forgiveness.
Now the Divine Being took upon Himself the seal of humanity,
in order for humanity to be adorned by the seal of Divinity.
-- St. Isaac of Nineveh

The trouble of course comes from the application. To refrain from threats when we ourselves are threatened is no easy task. To refuse to be cruel to those who have defrauded us, that have taken what is rightfully ours by force, is not something simply done. To remember our place before God when we hear the acclaim of men is counter to our nature.

To remember mercy when we could have vengeance is to be seen as week. To repay spite with the kindness requires that we refuse to demand our due. To live peaceably with our neighbors we must control our own anger – for we can not control their actions.

We are all rich in this fair Dominion. We may not all have a feast of meat and bread spread before us, but we do all have at least one gift from the Father of Lights that He wishes us to share. Some of course, do have the great feast ready, we must remember that our Lord said to invite those who could not return the favour, that the favour may be returned at His table. Others may need to share a word of encouragement, or instruction. Some may need to share of themselves with those who have lost hope.

We are called to show the world that we are His by our love.
Let us renew our commitment to answer this call.

As we live out the faith, both we and our neighbor will be better able to enjoy that Happy Christmas we wish each other.

Happy Christmas!

God save the Queen and Her Majesty's Subjects in all Her Realms.

Poet Laureate's Christmas Poem 2008

Aeturnus: The Feast of Ages.

Golden threads of light nurture ancient aether,
Woven dreams playing ‘cross bleak Northern shores;
Glowing in blind-black storms of frosted weather…
A snow-owl thro’ halo’s of heaven soars.

Roar of Boreas: swart screams into bitter cold,
Thro’ limbs of death-dancing hawthorn, greenest pine;
Aurora’s ribbons flowing; lucent on bold blue…
Spectral hues streaming in waves thro’ space and time.

Polaris: stellar regent pearl, in guiding strong,
Thro’ sleep and years, navigating the knowing soul;
Sov’reign Arcticus chants a celestial song…
Willow’s bear revolves ‘round the crown of the pole.

Three flames: Magi charting the brightest star,
Caspar, Melchior, Balthazaar set on sure path;
Compassing desert, mountain, sea and lands afar…
Wisdom in quest for the prophecy of true faith.

Gold frankincense, myrrh: blossoms of Mother’s earth,
Honour-gifts for the divine birth, new hope springs;
Treasure balm: the warm spirit of Heaven’s hearth…
Word of glory revealed: Angel Gabriel sings.

Vibrant echoes thrum deep in a church of stones,
Wicks flicker praise on shadow’d walls: songs lift a veil;
Psalms adore in faith, love’s vision inspiring tones…
Welcome brighter bliss to vales of ghostly pale.

The tender prayer of worth is ever-burning,
In shrines revered; shines eternal in dim-lit night;
Breath of every dawn emerging, each Yule a yearning…
The feast of All-Ages… for The Prince of All-Light.

Charity Among Sisters Sets Example for Us All

It occurs to me that some of you may have known one of the sisters of the Order of St. Helena, Sr. Clare, who turned 101 on Thanksgiving Day. I'm reporting information I received from (the Rev'd Dr) Elizabeth Kaeton, via the HoBD Listsver with her permission.

I have received word from Sr. Ann Prentice, OSH, who writes that "Sr. Clare died this past Sunday morning while her sisters were gathered around the altar for Communion."

I have excerpted some of what Sr. Ann writes of Sr. Clare, which shines as witness to the One who is come to us as The Light of the World.

"The Hospice nurse on duty came to the chapel to get Sr. Elsie to come--Elsie had been Clare's helper for several years, reading to her, helping her dress and move about with her walker. Clare had macular degeneration in both eyes but her mind was fine; Elsie has frontal lobe dementia, but she's very fit and has no problem reading--she reads the lessons in Chapel, and keeps up with our prayer services with no problem. She still makes her famous chocolate chip cookies and puts out breakfast every morning. Elsie is 84 or 85, and is now the oldest sister, chronologically.

"Clare converted to Catholicism in 2000. She never could accept within herself that women should be ordained, but she didn't try to hinder our sisters who are priests (about 1/3 of our Order). She wanted to continue to live with us and to wear her cross and ring, which are the visible symbols of the religious life, and to be buried here in the convent cemetery --a circle of dogwood trees with Easter lilies in the ground-- at the edge of the woods on our property (note: in Augusta, GA). Two other sisters are buried there. She always loved our Chapel here, which is open to the natural surroundings, and, although she said she couldn't sing, she was always present for our four daily Offices, and until 2000 she would receive Communion with us when we had a male priest presiding at the Eucharist.

"Most people did not know she was no longer an OSH Sister (legally she couldn't be when she joined the R.C. church because they are not "in communion with the Episcopal church"), but we included her in every way except that she couldn't vote in our elections. It is the end of an era. The stories we'll be telling should be written down!

"Her two sisters are still living--one 96, the other 92.

"There will be a Requiem Mass for her tomorrow (Thurs) at noon at the Roman Catholic church which she attended up until a week ago, at which we (and others who are not Roman Catholic) will not be able to receive Communion, BUT two of the sisters have been invited to read the Lessons and two other sisters will bring forward to the altar the bread and wine for Communion. It's a first, and a generous acknowledgement of her more than 50 years' vocation as an Episcopal nun.

Please pray for the sisters.

I am covetous of your prayers for Sr. Clare and for her sisters and family who grieve her loss. May they receive the comfort of their faith.

May the gracious, generous spirit of accommodation which marked the life of Sr. Clare, her sisters and her church family inspire us to follow The Wisdom of The Christ, which is, of course, the Antiphon we sing today.

+ May the soul of Sr. Clare, and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace and rise in glory.

Here is the chanted prayer from the Benedictine Sisters of Erie (PA - home of Sr. Joan Chittister)

O Wisdom, flowing from the mouth of the Most High;
reaching far and wide,
disposing of all things sweetly and mightily.
Come teach us the way of prudence.

Governor-General offers condolences on the passing of Alexei II

On the occasion of sudden and untimely passing of His Holiness Alexei II, we ask you to accept, along with all episcopes, clergy, monk orders and believers our sincere condolences. We pray to God for the rest of his noble soul, and to give you the solace in your pain.

May the God of All Comfort be with you in the days ahead, and may you be comforted by the words of the Apostle Paul, to the believer in Christ at Thessaloníki:

“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. “

Know that we mourn the passing of His Holiness Alexei II with you.

G-G Issues Statement on the Constitutional Crises in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

We note with regret the recent announcement by the Prime Minister of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Jean-Claude Juncker, that his government would seek a rewording of the constitution. The Parliament of the Grand Duchy is on a collision course with its monarch over his refusal to sign a bill legalising euthanasia. Luxembourg is a constitutional monarchy in which the Grand Duke, at the moment, holds executive power and bills only becomes law with his signature. The Prime Minster and Parliament is now moving to alter the constitution to limit Henri’s powers on approving legislation.

The law in question if enacted it would add Luxembourg to a small group of countries allowing euthanasia. His Serene Highness, the Grand Duke made known that he would not sign such legislation in violation of his Conscience and Faith before the bill was passed by His Parliament.

We call upon the Members of Parliament of the Grand Duchy to remember their Oath, their sworn Duty, and the Duties and Rights of each part of the Constitutional Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and to refrain from attempting to modify the constitution.

We call upon the People of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, to make known to their elected Members of Parliament their support for Grand Duke Henri, and the existing Constitution.

We Call upon the Lords of Parliament of the Dominion of British West Florida, the Loyal Subjects of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and advocates of Constitutional Monarchy and Liberty throughout the world to make known to the various Ambassadors, Consuls, and Representatives of the Government of the Grand Duchy your support for the Grand Duke.

Governor-General calls on the United Nations to Act.

Statement on Current Eritrea and Djibouti Border Conflict

Date: October 25, 2008 03:12PM

As tensions mount in the border area between Eritrea and Djibouti we call upon the United Nations to take those steps needed to ensure the peaceful maintenance of existing borders.

Previous calls for the withdrawal of Eritrea's Armed Forces by the United Nations have been unheeded, and we suggest that perhaps now is the time for something more than mere words from the United Nations.

The disingenuous of the Eritrean government's claims in regard to the matter increases our concern.

We are encouraged by the efforts of the government of France to restore peaceful interaction among the nations in that area.

Should the United Nations fail to provide a means for peaceful resolution of this dispute it will have again demonstrated its uselessness as a peacekeeping organization, and provided yet another reason why nations should not look upon it as any other than a rather expensive debating club.

Imperium C.O.S.M.O. Violates US Airspace

-- Imperial News Service

A large nylon netting, filled with several mylar helium-filled observation balloons,
equipped with a small digital camera, was reported to have violated US air space;
which was believed to have been the result of an un-detected weak spot along
the length of the 500 foot nylon tether, that seperated and released the equipment.
[ As of yet, there has been no word received from any US Authority regarding the event ]

The Council Of Space Mission Organizations ( C.O.S.M.O. ), formerly know as:
the Council Of Space Mission Operations, was in charge of these low altitude
tests; which were designed to record still-photos and videos of Imperial City,
the Capital Zone of the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates.

These videos were to have been released over the internet, in spite of the fact
that previous tests photos have not; which is due to the fact that the Imperium's
Sky and Space Program has been more-private and less-public, as there have been
several accidents over the last few years.

However, as there appears to be a Micro Space Race in the future of the MicroSphere,
the Imperial Government has decided to go-public ( limited increased releases ); which
is the purpose of this public release...to not only promote C.O.S.M.O.'s achievements,
but to also acknowledge C.O.S.M.O.'s failures as well.

C.O.S.M.O. is an organization comprised of several agencies and authorities
within the Imperial Government: SkyCom ( Sky Force Command ), and RAM-COM
( Rocket-And-Missile Commands ); both of which are designed and designated as
educational and informational commands* ( view Official Info-Photos below ),
which utlilize and deploy various S-T-S ( Surface-To-Sky ) units: i.e. helium balloon
platforms and systems, "Pocket Rockets" ( Bottle Rockets ), Estes Model Rocket Systems,
and R/C ( Radio / Remote Controlled ) vehicles.

The Ministry Of State Security / M.O.S.S., and the Ministry Of Science-Technology /
M.O.S.T., are also actively engaged in several of the Sky and Space Programs conducted
by C.O.S.M.O.

C.O.S.M.O. was commissioned, and granted authority and budgeting, by the CommiCzar
~ Lord Imperator approximately 7 years ago.

In the past, the Imperium's Sky and Space Programs have relied more on helium sky units
and R/C vehicles, and less on model rockets; as helium and R/C units have longer periods
of recording / reporting time, as they each can stay sky-bourne for longer periods of time;
however, this policy has been amended and expanded to include more and more emphasis
on re-usable Estes style rocket systems.

The loss of the equipment ( digital camera, balloon, etc ) is a minor set-back for
C.O.S.M.O.; as future tests will be limited until a new budget can be approved.

The Dominion of British West Florida Subscribes to the CONSEGI 2008 Declaration.

The Dominion of British West Florida Joins Brazil, South Africa, Venezuela, Ecuador, Cuba, and Paraguay in condemning the actions of the ISO/IEC in rejecting the appeals lodged against the approval of DIS29500.

All Dominion of British West Florida Government offices are required to seek first systems that support ISO/IEC 26300.

Bo, Baron Von Servers of Fayette,
Chairman of the House of Lords Select Committee on Stamps and Stationery

The Text of the CONSEGI 2008 Declaration follows:

CONSEGI 2008 DECLARATION
We, the undersigned representatives of state IT organisations from Brazil, South Africa, Venezuela, Ecuador, Cuba and Paraguay, note with disappointment the press release from ISO/IEC/JTC-1 of 20 August regarding the appeals registered by the national bodies of Brazil, South Africa, India and Venezuela. Our national bodies, together with India, had independently raised a number of serious concerns about the process surrounding the fast track approval of DIS29500. That those concerns were not properly addressed in the form of a conciliation panel reflects poorly on the integrity of these international standards development institutions.
Whereas we do not intend to waste any more resources on lobbying our national bodies to pursue the appeals further, we feel it is important to make the following points clear:

1.The bending of the rules to facilitate the fast track processing of DIS29500 remains a significant concern to us. That the ISO TMB did not deem it necessary to properly explore the substance of the appeals must, of necessity, put confidence in those institutions ability to meet our national requirements into question.
2. The overlap of subject matter with the existing ISO/IEC26300 (Open Document Format) standard remains an area of concern. Many of our countries have made substantial commitments to the use of ISO/IEC26300, not least because it was published as an ISO standard in 2006.
3. The large scale adoption of a standard for office document formats is a long and expensive exercise, with multi-year projects being undertaken in each of our countries. Many of us have dedicated significant time and resources to this effort. For example, in Brazil, the process of translation of ISO/IEC26300 into Portuguese has taken over a year.

The issues which emerged over the past year have placed all of us at a difficult crossroads. Given the organisation's inability to follow its own rules we are no longer confident that ISO/IEC will be capable of transforming itself into the open and vendor-neutral standards setting organisation which is such an urgent requirement. What is now clear is that we will have to, albeit reluctantly, re-evaluate our assessment of ISO/IEC, particularly in its relevance to our various national government interoperability frameworks. Whereas in the past it has been assumed that an ISO/IEC standard should automatically be considered for use within government, clearly this position no longer stands.

Governor-General's Statement on Hurricane Gustav

-- Dominion Forum
It is fitting that I should at this time bring to you an update on conditions in our City of New Orleans, and the surrounding area. It appears that God has spared the City at this time, and we are thankful for that.

O LORD God, who hast justly humbled us by thy late visitation of us with immoderate rain and waters, and in thy mercy hast relieved and comforted our souls by this provision for the safety of our City of New Orleans. We praise and glorify thy holy Name for this thy mercy, and will always declare thy loving-kindness from generation to generation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

However the storm has caused serious damage to the City, and to surrounding areas as well. It appears that the levee system in New Orleans will hold, however levees in other places including the barony of Choctaw (Plaquemines parish), have failed and they and half of the city have lost electrical power. It will take time to restore the levees, power, and housing, but by God's Grace we shall endure and prosper. It is right and proper that we call upon God to continue to show us His mercy as we begin to rebuild yet again.

O ALMIGHTY God, who art a strong tower of defence unto thy servants against the face of their enemies; We yield thee praise and thanksgiving for our deliverance from those great and apparent dangers of wind and rain wherewith we were so nearly compassed. We acknowledge it thy goodness that we were not delivered over as a prey unto them; beseeching thee still to continue such thy mercies towards us, that all the world may know that thou art our Saviour and mighty Deliverer; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Secure Mobile Communication System Test Successful

-- Staff Writer

Sources within the Governor-General's office have informed the Provisional Post that the new 'mobile-hot-line' system for use by the Governor-General and the High Commissioners has been successfully tested.

According to well placed sources the new communication system uses commercially available off -the-shelf software to convert lap-tops and other mobile computers into communication centres. The system was tested during the build-up to the recent hurricane, with the Governor-General contacting His Excellency the High Commissioner to Her Majesty's Province of Alberta.

The systems provides protected (though not secure) multi-party audio and video connections.

The Government has already announced plans to establish similar connections with the Earl of Rum, and leaders of the League of Small States.

Vikesland Space Mission Successful

-- Vikeslandic Broadcasting Service

On August 16th, 2008 Micronational history was made when the launch of the AWAY 35 mission by JP AEROSPACE carried the Vikeslandic national flag to the edge of space.

This is Historical, as far as is known no other micronation has accomplished this feat to date.

The AWAY mission was launched from the desert floor by Black Rock Nevada. The launch vehicle is carried to the edge of the stratosphere by large balloons. The vehicle itself carries video cameras as well as still cameras and has various scientific instruments that collect data during the mission. As well small instruments known as PONGSATS are aboard and carry out a wide variety of functions when kissing the vacuum of space.

The Vikeslandic Department of Aeronautics and Space helped sponsor the AWAY 35 mission and in turn had the flag taken up to the final frontier.

Prince Christopher I of Vikesland said, "Let the Micronational space race begin! I invite all other small nations to do the same or go beyond this historical accomplishment."

JP Aerospace is dubbed as "Americas other space program" and is indeed a great partner for those who are interested in becoming involved or sponsoring an AWAY mission. The whole mission was documented on video and our national flag is clearly seen on the craft as it is prepared for launch on the desert floor.
Please visit the JP Aerospace website to learn more about their space program.

Please view their video of the mission below and see our flag aboard during the prep.

Governor-General Issues Statement on South Ossetia

-- Governor-General Press Release

The way in which the situation in South Ossetia has deteriorated is cause for profound concern. We call for the following actions in the name of Peace:

We urge an immediate ceasefire in the fighting in South Ossetia and for a resumption of direct dialogue between all parties.

As many international observers as possible should be sent to the epicentre of the crisis so that the situation could be assessed adequately.

Mauritania Placed on the Unsafe and to be Avoided List

-- Governor-General's Press Relase

We join the African Union, South Africa, Nigeria, the European Commission, and the United States in condemning the military coup d'etat in Mauritania. We strongly and firmly oppose any attempts to change governments through unconstitutional means.

We call upon General Mohamed Ould Abdelazi and the other members of his junta to restore the legitimate government under president Sidi Ould Cheikh Abdallahi, or in the alternative to make good their promise to hold free, fair, and transparent elections immediately.

Mauritania will placed on the nations that are unsafe and to be avoid list until the situation there stabilizes. British West Floridian Subjects of the Crown currently in Mauritania are advised to remain in their homes through the week-end pending notifications from one of the Crown Consulates.

Marquess of Mobile Contributes Share of Profits to Royal Floridian Mail

The Most Honourable Bo Register, Marquess of Mobile, Baron Von Servers of Fayette has contributed 4 Shillings, 8 pence to the Royal Floridian Mail through the House of Lords Select Committee on Stationery and Stamps.

The Governor-General provided a brief description of the transaction: “I recently received a bit over a pound from a successful joint effort with the Governor of Independent Long Island. The joint effort is international in scale, and allows us to showcase our technical abilities and infrastructural support mechanisms.“

“While the joint venture did not in anyway involve my position within the government, it is only fitting that I, as a member of the House of Lords Select Committee on Stamps & Stationery support its efforts to continue the Queen and Landscapes series. I have determined that by giving one fifth of the proceeds from this international joint infrastructure project to our own internal projects I can help my nation without causing undue hardships for my family or those in the Barony and Marquessate under my care.”

The contribution of 4 shillings 8 pence is the largest single contribution to the Royal Mail's Cinderella Stamp project in the history of this Dominion.

Imperium Back in the Foreign Aid Line.

Officials from the Imperial Government of the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates will once again meet with Officers of a US Financial Institution; with primary purpose and interest in securing additional funding for fiscal 2008-2009.

This meeting is scheduled to take place within the next week; and is in addition to previous similar meetings, and will involve offers of additional collateral from the Imperial Family and Government to the US Financial Institution. The Imperial Government has made it clear that no sovereign property nor strategic assets are being offered as collateral.

According to the Lord Imperator is "Foreign Aid Package" is required in order to help stabilize a stagnate economy within the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates. The recent weather, and rising prices of: fuel, fertilizer, and feed has placed the Imperial Economy at risk. The Imperial Government (and all State controlled businesses) currently operate at a near-deficit.

The "trickle-down" of macro-economics has hit hard in the Imperium, and has had an unexpected *double compounded* "domino effect" upon all of the Imperial businesses. However, based upon conservative projections and with proper planning, it is still believed that with a little luck and hard work, and an extension of current agreements, with an additional financial agreement from the US Financial Institution, the Imperium's economic engine can, and will, be in a position to be turned around in time.

Micronational Leader Support 'Olympic Spirit' While Boycotting 2008 Summer Games

Micronational Leader Support 'Olympic Spirit' While Boycotting 2008 Summer Games

-- Staff Writer

Micronational Leaders, including the Governor-General of our own Dominion and the Lord Imperator of the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates have joined macronational leaders from Europe in boycotting the opening ceremonies for the Olympic Games in Communist China. Some, including the Lord Imperator of the Imperium have also declared a boycott against the games in their entirety.

This rejection of the Games in China doesn't reflect a rejection of the spirit of the Olympics – camaraderie through sport competitions. Many of the leaders boycotting the games or opening ceremonies do so, as they see it, to strengthen the spirit of the Games, and to promote friendship and sovereignty through out the world.

Many leaders have shown their support for the Games themselves, and the players from across the globe. Some by attending the Games (skipping only the Opening Ceremonies), some by public statements, and some by concrete actions.

The Lord Imperator, is among those who actively support the Olympic Ideals – he is a coach and driver for the Missouri Special Olympics. While broadcast of the Games in Communist China will be banned in the Imperium, the Imperial Family will be supporting the Missouri Special Olympics by direct participation, financial support, and logistical support.

In like manner the Governor-General will attend a 'pan commonwealth' Cricket tourney in August, stating 'This is what 'international sport' is about – people, ordinary people, from different places coming together for a friendly game, and a good time. The fact that we can share this aspect of our culture helps us to be able share others as well, and to share with our neighbors is a 'good thing'.

Sovereigns of Ferguson in US Political Race

Sovereigns of Ferguson directly involved in International Politics
-- Dominion Central Information Authority 'Briefing'

Their Majesties (Benjamen/Benelea I) of the Kingdom of Ferguson are running concurrently for president as an independent and for the Kansas House of Representatives (District 104) as a Libertarian.
On the Web site for the House campaign, their Majesties state they would “encourage divestment of any funds from the Kansas government in enterprises associated with the Israeli state.” Being anti-Israel (which is not to be confused with being anti-Israeli) and a cross-dresser aren’t their Majesties only peculiarities. Although he’s a Libertarian, he supports the Iraq War and opposes hate-crimes laws.

President Baugh hosts Prince Christopher During Historic State Visit

30 June 2008 XXXI
Khamsin Molossia News

The Republic of Molossia was proud to host Prince Christopher and Princess Erin of Vikesland to our nation, June 27 - 30, 2008 XXXI. The Prince and Princess traveled from their nation, located in Manitoba, Canada, as a part of a tour through the western United States. After stops in Montana and Idaho, the Royal Family arrived in Molossia at about 10:00 AM MST, and were greeted by His Excellency, The President. His Excellency escorted the Prince and Princess to Republic Square, where he awarded Prince Christopher with the Order of the Mustang, as a token of the long friendship between Molossia and Vikesland. Prince Christopher in return awarded The President with the Order of Vikesland, and in addition presented him with a plaque honoring the occasion of this State Visit. Prince Christopher then closed with a short speech, speaking of the friendship between Vikesland and Molossia, and praising our nation's role in the world of small nations.

Subsequent to the awards and speech, His Excellency escorted the Royal Family on a tour of our nation, visiting all of our sites. They then returned to Norton Park, and engaged in an informal dialogue on micronational matters. Following this, The President, Prince and Princess departed for nearby Virginia City for lunch and a tour of that unique town. Upon returning from Virginia City, His Excellency and the Royal Family returned to Norton Park, and spent the remainder of the day relaxing there.

On Saturday, 28 June 2008 XXXI, The President, Prince and Princess departed Molossia for distant Donner Lake, located in the Sierras not far from Lake Tahoe. There they engaged in Joint Naval Maneuvers, using the mighty M.S. Wombat and the redoubtable M.S. Bandicoot. This marks the first occasion that two micronations have engaged in joint military activities, and the first time a graduate of the Molossian Naval Academy and Honorary Admiral - Prince Christopher - has deployed with the Molossian Navy. The Joint Exercise took the Royal Family and His Excellency through Donner Lagoon, much like the voyage of the Wombat almost two years ago in the same location. In addition to traveling the entire length of the lagoon, the intrepid voyagers landed at 5 MPH Island, and even forayed briefly out into Donner Lake itself. The expedition was a resounding success. Following the Joint Naval Maneuvers, The President took the Prince and Princess on a tour of Lake Tahoe, with stops at Skylandia on the North Shore and Emerald Bay on the West Shore. The day ended with dinner at Straw Hat Pizza in Carson City, the Official Pizza of the Republic of Molossia, followed by a viewing of the iconic movie "The Mouse That Roared", in the Great Room of Government House.

On Sunday, 29 June 2008 XXXI, His Excellency and the Royal Family traveled to Misfit Flats, some 16 Imperial Nortons (16 km / 10 mi) from Molossia. There they participated in a Joint Rocket Project, a precursor to the long-planned, long-distance and oft-delayed Joint Rocket Project on which Molossia and Vikesland have been working for nearly a year. In lieu of that larger project, the Prince and The President each launched their own rockets from the Flats, as a part of the State Visit. His Excellency launched the "Mustang", veteran of the recent Tandem Rocket Project, and Prince Christopher launched the "Eagle", specially built for this Joint Project. Both the Mustang and the Eagle were launched successfully twice at the same time, and the Eagle was launched solo a third time. The rocket launch being a success, and the heat on the desert floor being intense, the project was ended and all returned to Molossia. The day was ended with a viewing of the iconic movie, "Moon Over Parador".

The State Visit ended on 30 June 2008 XXXI, with the departure of the Royal Family for parts east. It was a great pleasure to host Prince Christopher and Princess Erin in our country, and an honor in the utmost. We wish them well on their return journey to Vikesland, and we additionally wish the Royal Family and their nation continued success and prosperity. We look forward to the day when The President can visit Vikesland himself, and we anticipate many long years of friendship between our two nations.

G-G Statement on the US Supreme Court's 2nd Amemdment Ruling

-- Office of the Governor-General

The Government and People of the Dominion of British West Florida applaud the recent decision by the United States Supreme Court upholding the individual right to keep and bear arms.

A people who retain the means to resist are seldom made slaves - the repressed throughout the world understand the power of an armed law abiding populace, as do all those who value liberty and good governance. Tyrannies depend on the resort to arms, arms they would deny to their subjects.

The decision by the US Supreme Court to uphold the right of persons – unconnected with any militia – to retain their own measure of self defense is a blow against tyranny. It is perhaps the first real action against terrorism the US Government has taken since the fall of the Taliban.

As Free Subjects of the Crown we commend our neighbors for recognising the fundamental right of self-defense, the natural right to protect one's property and the legal right to do so by force of arms if necessary.

God Save the Queen!

Imperium to Privatize Public Transport Sector.

The Lord Imperator of the Imperial Commonwealth of the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates has announced plans to begin privatization of the Public Transportation Sector. Imperial Family owned and operated Jamesport Express Transportation (JET) Vehicles, which currently operate under Imperial Livery are to be sold to private investors.

The Imperial Family has also announced other Austerity Programs – all intended to ensure the survival of the Imperium as financially viable entity on the world stage.

The Governor-General has expressed his support for the Imperial Family in their time of financial crises, in a statement given today the Governor-General proclaimed:

“As some of you may be aware, the Imperial Family of the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates is currently experiencing a time of financial difficulty brought on by the high cost of imported materials, the slowing economies of its trading partners and weather conditions that hamper its agricultural sector.

The Imperial Family has begun an austerity program to reduce imports, limit currency migration, and control expenditures.

The Government of the Dominion of British West Florida commends the Lord Imperator and the Imperial Family for taking quick, decisive actions in the face of this economic triple assault. We extend to the Government and People of the Imperium our respect and support.

It is our hope that the wise leadership of the Lord Imperator will see the Imperium through to safer shores in this storm, as it has so often in the past.

Imperium Announces Import Reductions to Redress Balance of Payments Issues.

-- Imperial News Service

The Executive Offices of the Lord Imperator ~ CommiCzar, at White Castle Estates, has announced that the majority of all magazine and newspaper imports will be curtailed upon the end-date of the current subscriptions.

These actions are but a small part of the measures to be taken by the Imperial Government, to prevent a possible balance of payments deficit. Other measures have included a reduction in fuel imports and an decrease in the number of foreign workers permitted to send earnings 'overseas' to their homelands.

Newsweek and the Wall St Journal are two of several such subscriptions which will be suspended; with an approximate 12 additional regional, national, and international publications will be include in the new tariff plan.

Several of the publications were imported from the United States for, and read exclusively by, members of the Imperial Government; while some of the publications were ordered exclusively for members of the Imperial Family, Imperial Subjects [ Employees ], and Tourist /Guest / Customers of the Imperium's commerical operations centers.

Several hundreds of *ImperiMarx / Rx ( Imperial / Imperium Marx ) [ * i.e. equal to the US Dollar / $ ] will be cut from the Imperial Government Budget in the publication subscriptions cancellations.

The Imperial Government is also working to 'firm up' projected agricultural exports to the United States, but recent weather events have raised concerns about the ability of exports to completely offset the previously projected import levels.

Additional Govt-Budget cost cutting measures and foreign exchange corrections are to be announced.

Governor-General Authorizes Release of Baronial Strategic Materials

The Governor-General has approved the release of materials from the Barony of Fayette's Strategic Reserves to assist a local family.

The Barony has released five (5) gallons of potable water for cooking and drinking along with 55 gallons of non-potable water for sanitary and hygienic uses. The recipients are a local family whose electricity has been disconnected, resulting in not only the loss of lights, air-conditioning, and refrigeration, but as they are on a private well, they've also lost access to 'running water.

The Baronial Government will continue daily delivers of these supplies until the family is able to have electric service restored.

A spokesman was quoted as saying 'We'll replenish the reserves on a daily basis – at Baronial Expense, the exchequer's office will not be involved”.

The family has also been granted access to the Baronial Cold Storage Facility.

Imperium Declares Martial Law

-- Imperial News Service

In wake of the recent storms, which has left the Imperium's river water levels over-flowing into farm fields already saturated, the Imperial Govt has issued a State of Emergency, and declared the Imperial City Capital Zone / CZ to be a National Disaster Area; and in so doing, has initiated
Martial Law to be in effect until such time that day-to-day operations can resume.

Martial Law was ordered due to the fact that there have been several recent attempts by "terrorist" [ vandals / thiefs ] to steal the Ministry Of Agriculture's / M.O.A. fuel reserves from fuel-storage tanks and equipments.

The Ministry Of State Security / M.O.S.S. has purchased several "Watch Dogs" [ "Junk Yard Dawgs" ], and has established protective barriers tohelp keep "terrorist" away from the fuel-storage tank facilities, but allows the "Watch Dogs" [ "K-9 Patrol" ] access within the barrier. Security lights equipped with off-and-on timers [ sunset-to-sunrise ], and motion sensors which sound a loud siren-alarm within seconds of being intersected, have been installed as well.

Rising high prices on imported* [ * local US mkts / businesses ] fuel, fertilizers, chemicals, and lower than expected / projected [ wanted and needed ] prices on livestocks, along with the storms / weather, are forcing the Imperium into internal-recession; which could result in a remapping of
the Imperium, if the situations continue as they have.
_____________________________________________________________

NOTE:

As of today, the major flooding has been isolated in several of the Imperium's lower-lying lands, and has yet to breach DeWaCo Road, and reach any of the Imperial City's structures...i.e. buildings, silos, sheds, bins, etc....

G-G on the 'Kosovo Republic'

The Dominion of British West Florida reiterates its position that the Unilateral Declaration of Independence issued by the rebellious province of Kosovo has no legitimacy.

The sovereignty and territorial integrity of every country must be fully respected by all other countries.

We believed that the Kosovo issue could be resolved in a peaceful manner, by way of dialogue and consultations, the path we ourselves continue to tread. Unilateral Declaration, especially while occupied foreign forces is not the legitimate path to independence.

We call upon the international community to bring pressure to bear on all parties so that a peaceful, mutually agreeable solution to the Kosovar's legitimate concerns can be found.

G-G Issues Statement on the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse Meetings (11 -14 June 2008)

Statement on the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse Meetings (11 -14 June 2008)
-- Office of the Governor-General Press Release

The Dominion of British West Florida commends the recent efforts of the two Chinas to progress form mutual non-recognition to mutual non-denial.

Dialogue through semi-official organisations (the SEF and the ARATS) reopened on June 12, 2008 on the basis of the 1992 Consensus, with the first meeting held in Beijing. Neither the PRC nor the ROC recognizes the other side as a legitimate entity, so the dialogue was in the name of contacts between the SEF and the ARATS instead of the two governments, though most participants were actually officials in PRC or ROC governments. Chen Yunlin, President of the ARATS, and Chiang Pin-kung, President of the SEF, signed files on June 13, agreeing that direct flights between the two sides would begin on 4 July and that Taiwan would allow entrance of up to 3000 visitors from the mainland every day.

The Dominion of British West Florida continues to take notice of, but not support, the position of the People's Republic of China with regard to the status of Taiwan.

The future of Taiwan should be decided peacefully by the peoples of both sides of the Strait, and progress like that made in recent days strengthens our hope that such a resolution can be reached in the near future.

Royal Versificator on the Opening of Parliament

The Opening of Parliament:

I

Season’s change: reflection returns once again in Time;

Charged with thought-brimmed plans of Government to evoke,

The Majestic Monarch to represent a people in their prime

Of noble speech, announced by splendour’s crown and cloak.

Stern political rhyme echo’s in the Grand-Lords Chamber;

After Black Rod’s plea, and knock, knock on solid oaken door,

Brittania’s giant wakes, attentive after long dormant slumber

In action resplendent, revived in ritual of ancient lore.

Our history sings: long past ages yet not mere dreams forgot;

Present and future woven from the self-same gilden thread,

Visions of ministers; crafted plans and charts of subtle plots

Of Barons, paupers, young and old in common purpose wed.

Prosperity, joy and health; concerns of all good subjects;

These aspects and features of sure well-balanced harmony,

Parliament is the polished mirror which its people reflects

And the Government’s homely art of creating equality.

Tho’ freedom is no jewel, not a sparkling treasured hope;

But the fine sword of many: wrought by differing hearts,

Of liberty, justice, truth and law: a communal rope

By which hands grasp and climb to view the Nation’s arts.

A fair living constitution, written not in ink on paper thin;

But one which glows as embers within each humble hearth;

Coursing strong and brilliant through each and every vein

Reflecting fervent human love; recited on the breath.

So, let solemn silence dwell here awhile among our crowd;

A sacred hush, the wise ever ready to listen with rapt intent,

The eager yearning of purpose invites the citizen proud

And words become the feather to the wings in glorious ascent.

The Wedding Ceremonies will be held at Raiford Road Baptist Church on the 7th of June at 2 of the clock in the afternoon. The Reverend Dr. Edward (Eddie) Griffis will officiate.

The Marquess of Mobile, the Countess of Louisiana, the Baroness of East Baton Rouge, and the former High Commissioner to the United Kingdom will be among the those in attendance.

The couple intend to take up residence on Mr. Sollicito's family estate, and no ennoblement in conjunction with the marriage is expected.

United States Authorities Refuse Recognition of Dominion Diplomatic Passport.

-- Staff Writer

United States Authorities refuse recognition of Dominion Diplomatic Passport.

His Excellency, Alan Goudman, the High Commissioner to Her Majesty's Provence of Alberta has been informed by the US Border Customs Office that it will refuse his request to transit the US by Land or Air as a Diplomatic representative of the Dominion of British West Florida.

This highly provocative move by the United States is currently being discussed in the Privy Council, but no 'real action' on the part of Her Majesty's Government is expected.

The Governor-General has been quoted by certain persons believed to be members of the Privy Council as saying “So what you want me to do about it? Send in the Marines to 'escort' him? We've got, what, 1 Marine, and he is currently detailed to East Florida. The High Commissioner can travel on his British or Canadian Passports, we'll stamp his Dominion one ourselves, and call it done. It will be a long time coming before we (or anyone else for that matter) will be able to 'force' overflight rules on the United States. Bravery is separated from Fool-hardiness not by the courage of the man, but by his wisdom.“

Our source indicated that some on the Privy Council would prefer at least some 'symbolic gesture' be made, including a public denunciation, but that these 'symbolic gestures' were rejected by the Governor-General as 'counter-productive'.

Governor-General excuses Baron Geier of Escambia from Attendance at the Opening of Parliament.

-- Staff Writer

Lord Zane Geier, First Baron Geier of Escambia, has announced he will not be able to attend the State Opening of Parliament in Pensacola this year, citing concerns about the availability and cost of petrol and concerns for his health and safety.

Lord Geier formally requested leave to miss the physical assembly which was granted by the Governor-General. Although the Office of the Governor-General has refused to officially comment on the request, it did acknowledge that the Lord Zane Geier, First Baron Escambia would not be attending the Ceremonies, and that the absence is for reasons 'completely acceptable to the Crown'.

Unofficial sources have revealed that the reasons given include the expense involved: gasoline prices having dramatically increased since the last visit by the Baron to his Baronial Estates; Concerns about proper health care en route (the Baron suffers from gout), and concerns about criminal activities and civil unrest in certain portions of the area between the Baron's summer estate and Pensacola where the Queen's Justice is currently held in abeyance by the United States and and the US States of Alabama and Florida.

Lord Geier joins His Excellency Alan Goudman, High Commissioner to Her Majesty's Provence of Alberta as a Member of the Government of the Dominion of British West Florida whose travel to and from the Dominion for diplomatic business has been hindered by the actions (or lack thereof) of the US Government.

The Baron Escambia resides in the Crown Lands approximately 150 miles north of the 1763 border of the Dominion Proper, in the 'Crown Lands' held in reserve for 'Native Peoples' by the Dominion, as mandated in the Royal Proclamation of 1763.

Imperium Receives Indirect Military Aid from US!

-- Staff Writer

The US actually provides military hardware – at discount - to the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates!

Sources within the Imperial Family have recently bragged about the ability of the Imperial Government, through the use of 'proxy agents' and willing 'middle-men', whose interest is driven purely by profit, to obtain first class, operable, military hardware from the United States Government.

Though the Imperium denies that any 'Lethal Materials' have been part of the exchange, it does freely admit to obtaining “canteens, rafts, tents, metal ammo cans, wood ammo crates, military belts, military parkas, military headwear, military leather gloves, military jump-boots, military flash-lights, military socks, military mess-kits, etc, etc, etc......”

The military budget funds saved by the purchase of these items, “at discount prices”, may of course be spent by the Imperial MOSS on other 'more valuable items'. The IMOSS has declined to discuss the size of its budget, nor has it published any data regarding the size of the savings made available by this indirect 'Military Aid' from the United Sates.

"Imperi-Gate"?

-- Staff Writer

Highly reliable Sources within the Imperial Family of DeWaCo have intimated that the Imperium has sought to gain influence in the US Presidential Elections process by direct financial aid to one 'favoured candidate'. The exact value of the 'contributions' has not been revealed, nor has the extent of involvement by certain 'cousins' who visited with the candidate at the Corn Palace in South Dakata.

The Lord Imperator has publicly expressed his support for Barack Hussein Obama Jr, the Democratic Party candidate who's former pastor (the minister who performed his wedding, and baptized his daughters) has claimed that the US Government brought aids to North America to 'control the black population'. Among the official reasons given by the Lord Imperator for support this potentially divisive candidate is Mr. Obama's position on the Iraq war, and his declared willingness to talk with foreign leaders without pre-conditions.

The Imperial Government has also made it known that an Obama presidency, combined with certain changes in US Foreign Policy would facilitate formal recognition of the US Government by the Imperium. The Obama campaign declined to comment on the issue.

Contributions from foreign nationals to candidates in US Federal Elections is prohibited by US Law. The Imperial Family claims that this is no consequence to them, as they aren't subject to the US law foreign participation restrictions – pending formal recognition of the Imperium by the US Government.

Lord Imperator Exercise Veto Power – Imperial External Citizens Act Rejected.

Lord Imperator Exercise Veto Power – Imperial External Citizens Act Rejected.

-- Imperial News Service

The Lord Imperator ~ CommiCzar issued His veto to over-rule a vote presented to Him, on a proposed Law of the Lands which was known as the "External Citizens Act"; which would open up Imperial Citizen to all Imperial Subjects / Employees, as well as allowing for People who reside around the world, to petition and apply for Imperial Citizenship as an "External Citizen" - those who do not reside in proximity to Imperium Lands.

Identical-to-similar proposals have been introduced on the Floors of the Forums of the Imperial Government countless times in the past; with all such proposals being approved with vote from all Officials and Officers of the Imperial Government's legislative systems, but being erased by veto.

The Executive Veto maintains that there must remain a permanent but friendly separation, between:
1)Imperial Citizens (the extended Imperiall Family & Friends granted the privilege) , and
2)that of Imperial Subjects - Employees Full Time & Part Time ; and
3)that "Externals" [ People without Proximity / World Wide ] are not to even ever be considered,

It is the stated belief of the Lord Imperator ~ CommiCzar that although "Externals" could bring progress to the Imperium, the fact is that they reside too distant for actual physical interaction and supervision. And it is on this it is on this basis, that there should never ever be any consideration for the allowing of "External Citizenship" to exist.

The Lord Imperator firmly rejected arguments in support of the legislation, pointing out that protection of the Imperium and its Culture remains his responsibility, and that it is his Duty to reject the advise of the Legislature when in his consideration the proposed bill would bring harm to the nation.

Text of the Governor-General's Restoration Day Speech

On Restoration Day, 2008.
My Fellow Loyal Subjects of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God Queen in this Realm, it is my privilege to address you on this the three hundred forty-eighth anniversary of the Triumphal return of HM King Charles the second and the Restoration of the Monarchy.

His parents, Charles I and Henrietta Maria (daughter of Henry IV of France), who had been married in 1626, had a child named Charles James born to them in March 1629, but who did not live above a day. Their second infant, who was destined to live and to reign, saw the light on the 29th of May 1630, his birth being distinguished by the appearance, it was said, of a star at midday.

The restoration of the king, after a twelve years' interregnum from the death of his father, naturally brought into public view some of the remarkable events of his intermediate life. None took a more prominent place than what had happened in September 1651, immediately after his Scottish army had been overthrown by Cromwell at Worcester. It was heretofore obscurely, but now became clearly known, that the royal person had for a day been concealed in a bushy oak in a Shropshire forest, while the Commonwealth's troopers were ranging about in search of the fugitives from the late battle. The incident was romantic and striking in itself, and, in proportion to the joy in having the king once more in his legal place, was the interest felt in the tree by which he had been to all appearance providentially preserved. The ROYAL OAK accordingly became one of the familiar domestic ideas of the English people. A spray of oak in the hat was the badge of a loyalist on the recurrence of the Restoration-day. A picture of an oak tree, with a crowned figure sitting amidst the branches, and a few dragoons scouring about the neighbouring ground, was assumed as a sign upon many a tavern in town and country. Some taverns still bear at least the name—one in Paddington, near London). And 'Oak Apple-day' became a convertible term for the Restoration-day among the rustic population.

It was on his thirtieth birthday, the 29th of May 1660, that the distresses and vicissitudes of his early life were closed by his triumphal entry as king into London. His restoration might properly be dated from the 8th of May, when he was proclaimed as sovereign of the three kingdoms in London: but the day of his entry into the metropolis, being also his birthday, was adopted as the date of that happy event. Never had England known a day of greater happiness. Defend the Commonwealth who may—make a hero of Protector Oliver with highest eloquence and deftest literary art—the intoxicated delight of the people in getting quit of them, and all connected with them, is their sufficient condemnation. The truth is, it had all along been a government of great difficulty, and a government of difficulty must needs be tyrannical. The old monarchy, ill-conducted as it had been under Charles I, shone white by comparison. It was happiness overmuch for the nation to get back under it, with or without guarantees for its better behaviour in future. An army lately in rebellion joyfully marshalled the king along from Dover to London.

Thousands of mounted gentleman joined the escort, brandishing their swords, and shouting with inexpressible joy.' Evelyn saw the king arrive, and set down a note of it in his diary. He speaks of the way strewed with flowers; the streets hung with tapestry; the bells madly ringing; the fountains running with wine; the magistrates and the companies all out in their ceremonial dresses—chains of gold, and banners; nobles in cloth of silver and gold; the windows and balconies full of ladies; ’trumpets, music, and myriads of people flocking even so far as from Rochester, so as they were seven hours in passing the city, even from two in the afternoon till nine at night.' 'It was the Lord's doing,' he piously adds; unable to account for so happy a revolution as coming about by the ordinary chain of causes and effects.

It belongs more particularly to the purpose to state, that among the acts passed by parliament immediately after, was one enacting 'That in all succeeding ages the 29th of May be celebrated in every church and chapel in England, and the dominions thereof, by rendering thanks to God for the king's peaceable restoration to actual possession and exercise of his legal authority over his subjects,' &c. The service for the Restoration, like that for the preservation from the Gunpowder Treason, and the death of Charles I, was kept up till the year 1859.

These solemn holidays are restored from this day forward on the Calendar of this Government.

At the coronation of Charles II, the first triumphal arch erected in Leadenhall Street, near Lime Street, for the king to pass under on his way from the Tower to Westminster, is described in Ogilby's contemporary account of the ceremony as having in its centre a figure of Charles, royally attired, behind whom, 'on a large table, is deciphered the Royal Oak bearing crowns and sceptres instead of acorns; amongst the leaves, in a label
"----------- Miraturque novas Frondes et non sua poma."
(----------- Leaves unknown Admiring, and strange apples not her own.)

The dispensers of patronage under the Restoration had no enviable office. The entry of Charles II into his kingdom was no sooner known, than all who had any claim, however slight, upon royal consideration, hastened to exercise the right of petition. Ignoring the Convention of Breda, by which the king bound himself to respect the status quo as far as possible, the nobility and gentry sought to recover their alienated estates, clergymen prayed to be rein-stated in the pulpits from which they had been ejected, and old placeholders demanded the removal of those who had pushed them from their official stools. Secretary Nicholas was overwhelmed with claims on account of risks run, sufferings endured, goods supplied, and money advanced on behalf of the good cause; petitions which might have been endorsed, like that of the captain who entreated the wherewithal to supply his wants and pay his debts, 'The king says he cannot grant anything in this kind till his own estates be better settled.'

The brief abstracts of the memorials of less active partisans speak even more eloquently of the misery wrought by civil strife. Thomas Freebody solicits admission among the poor knights of Windsor, having been imprisoned seven times, banished twice, and compelled on three occasions to find sureties for a thousand pounds. James Towers was forced, on account of his loyalty, to throw dice for his life; and, winning the cast, was banished. Thomas Holyoke, a clergyman, saw his aged father forced from his habitation, his mother beaten so that her death was hastened, his servant killed, while he was deprived of property bringing in £300 a-year, and obliged to live on the charity of commiserating friends. Another clergyman recounts how he suffered imprisonment for three years, and was twice corporally punished for preaching against rebellion and using the Common Prayer-book.

Sir Edward Pierce, advocate at Doctors' Commons, followed Charles I to York as judge marshal of the army, which he augmented by a regiment of horse. He lost thereby his property, his profession, and his books; 'was decimated and imprisoned, yet wrote and published at much danger and expense many things very serviceable to king and church.'

There is a well-known anecdote of a silent man, who, riding over a bridge, turned about and asked his servant if he liked eggs, to which the servant answered, 'Yes;' whereupon nothing more passed till next year, when, riding over the same bridge, he turned about to his servant once more, and said, 'How?' to which. the instant answer was, 'Poached, sir.' Even this sinks, as an example of long intermission of discourse, beside an anecdote of a minister of Campsie, near Glasgow. It is stated that the worthy pastor, whose name was Archibald Denniston, was put out of his charge in 1655, and not replaced till after the Restoration. He had, before leaving his charge, begun a discourse, and finished the first head. At his return in 1661, he took up the second, calmly introducing it with the remark that 'the times were altered, but the doctrines of the gospel were always the same.'

The interregnum in England lasted 12 years. Our own fair dominion has now be unlawfully separated from its rightful crown for two hundred years. Nonetheless, though the times have altered, still the doctrines of the Gospels, and of Proper Governance have not.

We shall have again our Sovereign, and we will one day again enjoy the fruits of God and Crown Governance.

Monarchy Symposium Scheduled for September in Germany.

Interdisciplinary Symposium on Monarchy in September

From 26th to 28th of September 2008 there will be in Laufen a symposium with a rich program of scientific lectures, including presentations from Prof. Dr. Reinhard Heydenreuter and Prof. Dr. Karl Freiherr von Aretin and a plenary discussion. This announcement provides information about the symposium along with a call for submission of publications.

Laufen an der Salzach: (MPA) The first Monarchy Forum organized by the German Monarchist Society will be held from 26 through 28 September 2008 in Laufen in Bavaria. The purpose of this conference is to set new courses that promote the interdisciplinary discourse among political sciences, jurisprudence, and historical sciences.

Rich Lectures Program

The symposium begins on Friday evening with a welcome speech by the first governing mayor of Laufen, Mr. Hans Feil. Professor Dr. Karl Otmar Freiherr von Aretin follows immediately with a lecture on the “shipwreck of the Weimar Republic, resistance from 1932-33 in the Bavarian monarchist movement against the NS-regime, and the 1950-52 efforts towards the reintroduction of monarchy.” Dr. Freiherr von Aretin has lectured for many years at the Technical University of Darmstadt in the faculty for social and historical sciences. Dr. Freiherr von Aretin is also the former director of the Institute for European History.

On Saturday morning, Dr. Götz Freiherr von Boyneburg-Lengsfeld-Dornkasch will provide some future insight with his topic “relevance of inherited values for the 21st century.” After lunch, the distinguished jurisprudent and historican Prof. Dr. Reinhard Heydenreuter will talk about the legal status of the nobility after the year 1918.

Plenary Debate and Forecast for the Monarchy Forum 2009

On Sunday before lunch, there will be an opportunity for all participants to discuss and debate before the forum officially closes. Because there will probably be questions that remain unanswered, this debate will likely provide some suggestions for topics for the second Monarchy Forum in 2009.

Call for papers for the MOFO ‘08

As a complement to the lecture program, participants will also have access to scientific papers. For that reason the Monarchy Forum calls also for the submission of related works. Works will be considered only if they meet scientific standards and were sent in by the author(s) themselves. Paper submission closing date is September 5, 2008, at 6pm (CET).

Monarchy Forum Contact

For participant inquiries, for inquiries from the press, or to submit a paper, contact monarchieforum2008[at]googlemail[dot]com.

The expression of Hope & Help was directed to those two nation's People - and NOT at either of those two nation's governments.

The "MicroMoment of Hope & Help", as it was Officially designated by the Lord Imperator ~ CommiCzar, was an expression of "hope" for the People of those two nations; as well as, an expression that all of man can "help"....if not physically and financially....maybe spiritually.

Imperium Announces Food Aid for the United States

As part of the Imperium's "Good Neighbor" foreign relations program it has authorized its Agricultural Foreign Sales Agents (AFSAs) of the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) to accept less than 'anticipated full return' prices for foodstuffs sold in the United States.

Citing increasing costs for basic foods in the United States and the desire of the Imperium's Government to offer what relief if could, the Lord Imperator of the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates sold beef cattle and market hogs to agents in the United States for prices substantially lower than originally forecast.

The Lord Imperator also promised to continue the 'Good Neighbor Food Aid' program for as long as financially viable for the Imperium and needed by the United States.

Imperium Reauthorizes Strategic Fuel Reserves

The Imperial Government of the Impeium of DeWaCo Estates has finalized, via phone conversation with a major US propane distributor, a new 2008-2009 Pre-Season Propane $avings Program;
which is offered to the propane distributor's customers during the pre-winter season, thereby locking in fixed propane prices for the upcoming winter season.

Several of the Imperial City's buildings are heated with propane, and as the price of propane rises consistently with the rise of oil, the Imperial Government decided once again to enter into agreement with the US propane distributor.

The Imperial Government is also keeping it's farm equipment fuel tanks at a minimum of no less than 75% full at any given time; whereas in the past, attention was not directed in re-ordering farm fuels until the tanks were either at, or else below the 40-to-50% level capacity.

The new Strategic Fuels Reserve / SFR will be under the direct authority, responsibility, and supervision of the Imperial Government's Minister of the Ministry Of Communication-Transportation Affairs / M.O.C.T.A.; and has been designated as the:
GOVERNMENT FARM FUEL RESERVES PROGRAM / G.F.F.R.P.

Imperium Set Uniform Speed Limit

Due to recent repeats of racing and reckless driving on DeWaCo Road, by several of the younger Imperial Citizens and their guest / friends, which resulted in several incidents where autos and trux [ trucks ] became stuck in the muddy gullys [ drainage ditchs ], the Imperial Government has finally established speed limits for ALL by-ways within the Greater Capital Zone of Imperial City, CZ; as well as, all of the path-ways which link the farm fields to the Capital City, and all other sites within the Capital Zone. [ i.e. Saw Hill Mill, Timber Ridge, FairView, Grand View, Lake Blaxx, Great Lake, Warzog Sity, Obelin UniverSity, etc.....all sites of agricultural and recreational significance within the Imperium ]

The Speed Limit was set at 10mph, with any breach of the limit resulting in the immediate suspension of an individual's rights to drive within the Imperium; as well as, one's rights to drive on "foreign" [ US ] roadways. [ no time limit for suspension set, each incident on a case-by-case basis.

Molossia opens new Customs House on US Border

On May 11, President Kevin Baugh of the Republic of Molossia, a micronation located near Dayton, Nevada, inaugurated his country's first ever customs station near the border with the United States, in the capital city of Espera.

It was built after Baugh noticed that the tiny nation had no welcoming spot for its visitors. Though the station is unmanned as of now, there are plans for a customs officer to be stationed there in the near future. A sign asks that foreigners leave their pocket change as an entry fee.

Several items are banned in Molossia, including firearms, tobacco and incandescent light bulbs. The customs station was designed to ensure that these are not illegally brought into the country from the United States.

International Community Condemns Burma's Junta

Leaders of various unrecognized nations joined in the condemnation of the military junta in Burma.

The Lord Imperator of DeWaCo issued a statement officially condemn(ing) the Myanmar military regime for it's refusal to allow aid into it's nation's borders.

Ambassador Tallini stated his support for the Imperium's statements (and reminded the international community that a state of war exists between Independent Long Island and Burma).

The Governor-General also issued a statement denouncing the military Junta in Burma.

Within hours of the statements being published on the Open Micronational Forum, the Junta agreed to allow additional aid (including vessels of Her Majesty's Canadian Navy) to enter Burmese territory.

-- Text of the Governor-General's Statement: ----------
The Government of the Dominion of British West Florida denounces the recent actions of the Military Junta currently exercising its illegitimate authority in Burma, in the strongest terms possible.

Charity workers said as many as 24,000 children could have perished in Saturday’s disaster. Still, the Junta refused aid offered by the rest of the wold, putting its own pride above the lives of children.

An estimated 60,000 people are feared dead or missing. Huge areas remain under water, particularly in the southern Irrawaddy delta. And this 'Socialist Republic' refuses aid from the US and other western countries because it fears that they may try to sneak liberty in with the rescue launches.

Aid agencies are in a race against time to save the million-plus homeless survivors from disease, hunger and exhaustion, yet the generals refuse to allow in those with the most ability to help, placing policy of people.

Burma’s military government finally agreed to the first shipment of UN aid yesterday. But the junta continues to refuse to allow in sufficient foreign aid workers. No government worthy of the title puts its own prestige above the safety of its people.

We're outraged by the slowness of the response of the government of Burma to welcome and accept assistance.

We plead with the government of Burma to cooperate with the international community, and allow it to help the Burmese people in this time of crises.

-- End Text.

-- Text of the Lord Imperator's Statement ------

The Imperial Government of the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates does hereby officially condemn the Myanmar military regime for it's refusal to allow aid into it's nation's borders, after the recent cyclone which has killed an estimated 100,000 of that nation's citizens.

The Imperial Government of the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates calls on all likeminded and concerned micronations and people, to send a clear signal of protest against the lack of concern shown by the Myanmar military regime, regarding that regime's citizens who are in need of water, food, and medical supplies and assistance.

International reports indicate that the Myanmar military regime has not yet implemented a government leadership roll in assisting it's citizens; and has refused to receive aid from the USA, and other nations around the world.

The Myanmar military regime has allowed a limited number of aid into it's borders; however, the number allowed is not adequate to the devastation that torn through that nation.

-- Text of Ambassador Tallini's Message ---
I can only offer my support to the Imperium of DeWaCo Estates in the condemnation of Myanmar.

As you may know, Independent Long Island declared war on Myanmar back in October 2007 because of that same tyrannical government:

President Baugh of Molossia Grants Audience to WikiNews

President Kevin Baugh
Image: www.molossia.org.

In March, Wikinews reporter Joseph Ford held an exclusive interview with Kevin Baugh, president of the Republic of Molossia, a micronation located near Dayton, Nevada. Due to the interest the article gained, both online and off, a follow-up interview was held this week.

Molossia's capital city, Espera, is situated on little over an acre of land in Western Nevada, within driving distance of Reno. Another territory, Desert Homestead Province, is located in Southern California. Unlike most of today's micronations, Molossia allows visitors and has its own economy. It also has its own time zone and holidays as well as a few tourist attractions.

When asked about the culture of his country Baugh replied, "Molossian culture is a mix of several sources. Above all, we value the lifestyle of the western U.S., especially as it pertains to living in a wide-open place such as we do. Life here is fairly relaxed and easygoing."

He also said that Molossia and the United States "generally ignore each other" and that there haven't been "any altercations" between the two, despite claiming each other's land. He went on to tell us much more about his tiny nation, which can be read in the interview below.

Wikinews (Joseph Ford) Where is Molossia located?

President Baugh: Molossia is located in Western Nevada, about 35 miles southeast of Reno, Nevada.
Desert Homestead ProvinceImage: www.molossia.org.
Desert Homestead Province
Image: www.molossia.org.

WN (Joseph Ford) How large is Molossia?

President Baugh: The portion of Molossia in Western Nevada is about 1.3 acres in size, with another five acres in our other province, Desert Homestead, in Southern California. In both cases, the terrain is desert, high desert with sagebrush and pinion trees in Nevada, and low desert with creosote and yucca in California.

WN (Joseph Ford) Tell us about your country's history.

President Baugh: Molossia was founded in 1977, when my best friend James and I saw the movie, The Mouse that Roared. We were quite taken by the idea of a tiny country accomplishing such amazing and amusing things, and decided to start our own nation. James was the King, and I was the Prime Minister. Time passed and James moved on, but I stayed with the idea, and carried it along with me everywhere I went until we settled here in Nevada. Having actual land really made the dream come alive, and ten years ago I raised the Molossian flag for the first time over our sovereign territory. Since then we have worked to build a great, albeit tiny, nation here in the desert. We founded the Intermicronational Olympic Games in 2000, a tradition that has carried on since. We started the first Intermicronational Exposition, and also created the Norton Awards for Excellence in Micronationalism. That's just a snap shot of what has been a very interesting decade.

WN (Joseph Ford) Does Molossia have its own flag, currency or national anthem?

President Baugh: Absolutely, what would a country be without those things? Our flag has three horizontal stripes, blue, white and green (from the top). The blue stands for the Molossian sky, almost always blue, the white stands for the nearby mountains, white with snow much of the year, and the green stands for the green of the desert foliage in the spring. It flies every day in front of Government House.
Our currency is the Valora, and comes in both paper and coin formats, the latter being poker chips, instead of traditional coins. Our national anthem is "Molossia, Nation in the Desert", with lyrics written by me and set to the Albanian national anthem. I'm sure they don't mind.

WN (Joseph Ford) What is the official language of Molossia?

President Baugh: Our official language is English, but we borrow from Esperanto sometimes, such as for the name of our capital, "Espera" and our money the Valora. We have no problem borrowing from other languages, as well, and we also use the Deseret Alphabet as an alternate writing script.

WN (Joseph Ford) What is the governmental structure of Molossia?

President Baugh: Well, officially, Molossia is a republic, complete with a constitution. Sadly, things are in such disarray over the border from us, that I had no choice but to suspend the constitution and declare martial law. It's unfortunate, but the security of my nation is paramount, and the best way to ensure that is to rule by decree. So far, no one has complained, and anyway, I'm a rather benevolent dictator.

WN (Joseph Ford) Does Molossia have its own military?

President Baugh: Yes, we do, the mighty Molossian Navy. Yes, we have a Navy in the desert. Our Navy has been involved in several exploration expeditions during its three years of existence. We are quite proud of our Navy.

WN (Joseph Ford) The Molossian Navy has their own academy, which is open for all to join online. Tell us about that.

President Baugh: Indeed, I opened the Naval Academy several years ago as the Molossian Military Academy, taking advantage of my strong military background. When I founded the Molossian Navy, it was natural to turn the Military Academy into and Naval Academy. In the years before and since, the Academy has produced dozens of graduates. The Academy is free to all applicants, and includes lessons and tests on military leadership, tactics, seamanship and naval battles. Once an individual has taken all four tests successfully, he or she can purchase a certificate of completion, and can then purchase on honorary commission in the Molossian Navy. We offer honorary commissions in the rank of captain, commodore and admiral.

WN (Joseph Ford) Tell us about the Molossian culture.

President Baugh: Well, Molossian culture is a mix of several sources. Above all, we value the lifestyle of the western U.S., especially as it pertains to living in a wide-open place such as we do. Life here is fairly relaxed and easygoing, and we do most things together as a nation and as a family. In addition, we have absorbed elements of other cultures. The town of Steinsdorf on the Molossia Railroad is, of course, German. Our National Hero, Emperor Norton, comes from San Francisco. Cookie Dough, our National Treat, is adopted from the United Provinces of Utopia, a micronation with whom we once associated.

WN (Joseph Ford) How are Molossia's relations with other micronations?

President Baugh: We maintain friendly, informal relations with just about every micronation. Our hand is always outstretched in friendship. With some nations we are particularly close, such as with TorHavn and Vikesland, due to the long and positive relationship that we have had. We count ourselves lucky to have good friends among many other micronations and micronationalists, from all over the world.

WN (Joseph Ford) The land claimed by Molossia is also claimed by the United States. How are relations between your country and the U.S.? Have there been any altercations? Or do you generally leave each other alone?

President Baugh: No, there haven't been any altercations between Molossia and the US. We generally ignore each other. We can't really live without the US, though, since they provide a significant amount of our consumer goods, Molossia being rather resource-poor. And as long as we don't do anything objectionable, they leave us alone.

WN (Joseph Ford) Besides the League of Small Nations, a nearly defunct association devoted to the prosperity of all land-claiming micronations, does Molossia belong to any international organizations?

President Baugh: Actually, no we don't, although we certainly have over the years, especially league of Secessionist States (LoSS), although we withdrew from that organization years ago. Incidentally, the League of Small nations is in the process of being resurrected, with an eye toward increased intermicronational activities, to possibly include supporting a charity.

WN (Joseph Ford) Can one become a citizen of Molossia? Is honorary citizenship granted?

Presdient Baugh: Well, Molossian citizenship is only extended to actual, physical residents of Molossia, and we are not accepting any immigrants at this time. There just isn't room. Honorary citizenship is indeed granted, generally to those individuals that have performed some special service to Molossia, and have thus earned our gratitude.

WN (Joseph Ford) Are Molossians dual U.S. citizens? Do you pay U.S. taxes?

Presdient Baugh: Yes, all Molossians are dual US citizens. Most Molossians actually work in the US and live in Molossia, largely due to our small size and lack of resources. And no, as a sovereign nation, we do not pay taxes to the US. However, we contribute an equivalent amount to the US in Foreign Aid, in the hopes that they will someday fix their roads!

WN (Joseph Ford) Molossia has its own systems of measurement and dates. Tell us about them.

President Baugh: Our dates are based from the year that Molossia was founded, back in 1977, thus today is 29 April 2008 XXXI. Founder's Day, the day Molossia was founded, was 26 May 1977.
Our measurement system is called the Kokintz System, named for Professor Kokintz of Grand Fenwick. All of the units of measurement are based of things unique to Molossia. The basic unit of length, the Norton, is based on the length of my hand. The basic unit of volume, the Simms, is equal to a can of Diet Pepsi, my favorite drink. The basic unit of weight, the Fenwick, is based on a tube of Cookie Dough, and the basic unit of temperature, the Zenda, is based on the height of the First Lady. We like to keep things interesting.

WN (Joseph Ford) Molossia also has its own time zone. Tell us about it.

President Baugh: Again, to keep things interesting, we devised our own time zone, Molossian Standard Time. It is 39 minutes ahead of Pacific Standard Time and 21 minutes behind Mountain Standard Time.

WN (Joseph Ford) Can people visit Molossia?

President Baugh: Yes, absolutely! We love have tourists visit. We have thus far had 14 non-family visit Molossia in the past year, our first ever arriving in spring 2007 XXX. A visit to Molossia takes about an hour, during which I take all visitors on a tour of our country and tell them about Molossia and micronations in general. Cookie dough is served, too, of course, and I stamp passports. It is very important, though, that all visitors contact our government, to arrange a date and time for the visit. Please do not show up unannounced!

Image: www.molossia.org.

WN (Joseph Ford) Are there any tourist attractions in Molossia? What can a visitor see and do while in your nation?

Presdient Baugh: Yes, we do have a few sights to see. Visitors can see Republic Square, the Peace Pole, the micronation direction sign, Norton Park, the Molossia Railroad, and the Tower of the Winds. A visit to Molossia is always interesting, if for no other reason than it's "the country just up the street on the right".

WN (Joseph Ford) Are you planning on expanding Molossia's borders in the near future?

President Baugh: We would love to do so, but I think we are about as big as we can be right now. Of course, should our country ever had a large economic windfall, then we will certainly expand.

WN (Joseph Ford) Molossia is one of the world's most serious and well known micronations. In under ten years, it has gained the attention of the media and respect of thousands. Where do you see your country in another ten years?

President Baugh: I think the future is bright for Molossia. Each day brings new challenges and new rewards. I am certain that, with all we have done over the past 31 years, the best is yet to come!

WN (Joseph Ford) What are your duties as president? What is it like to run your own country?

President Baugh: Molossia is a fairly easygoing place to live and thus an easy place to run. As President, I am, of course the steward of my nation, and my principle duties involve taking care of my people and ensuring that they are fed, healthy and happy. Literally, actually. Beyond that, my responsibilities include making Molossia a positive and interesting place to live, a task I enjoy immensely. I love my country, and I love being the leader of Molossia.

WN (Joseph Ford) There are thousands reading this right now. Is there anything else you would like us to know about your nation?

President Baugh: I would just like to thank you for this interview, and thank everyone reading this for taking the time to read and learn about Molossia. I am very proud of my little country and of what we have accomplished here. I look forward to only greater things ahead for Molossia and Molossians, and the world of small nations.
